There are lots of ways you can take part in The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Worcester, whether you are a local authority, school, business, community group, or want to get involved yourself.
Organise a Street Party
The UK has a long history of holding street parties to celebrate national events. Why not organise one for your neighbours for the Platinum Jubilee? We’re encouraging residents to organise street parties to celebrate the Jubilee between 28 May and 5 June and we’re offering grants of £100 to help you get the party started! Register your street party and apply for the grant here.
If you’re planning to host a street party, you can share the details on the official Jubilee interactive map here.
Organise a Community Event
Do you have an event in mind that’s bigger than a street party? If you’re part of a community group and are looking to host a Jubilee-themed event, we want to hear from you! Up to £2,000 is available for events organised by community groups or businesses.
Apply for the community events grant here Complete the application stages 1 to 4 – please ensure the project description states that you are applying for a Jubilee Community Event.
Host your own Big Jubilee Lunch
The Big Jubilee Lunch will be taking place on Sunday 5 June. You could host your own, or you could combine it with your street party. Find out more about the Big Jubilee Lunch here.
There is no charge to process a road closure for your street party. Not all street parties or events will need a road closure, our team will be able to offer advice and support to you about whether this is required for your event. The Council will cover the costs of any traffic management signage associated with road closures.
Please note – if a road closure is required, the application must be submitted by 5pm on 31 March so that we can get this through our system. The deadline for applications not requiring a road closure is 19 April.
Share your memories
The Worcester Life Stories project is calling for people with memories and photos of previous Jubilee celebrations in the city to share them at the new Know Your Place Worcester platform.
This is also the place to add your stories of this year’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, so make sure to take plenty of photos and post them up after your event. Get to Know Your Place.
Plant a tree for the Jubilee
The Queen’s Green Canopy is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.
