Day of Dance in Worcester!

A special dance event, involving several morris sides, takes place in Worcester on Saturday 20th July.

A Day of Dance begins at 10.30am around the City Centre including Cathedral Square, outside the Guildhall, South Quay and the Royal Worcester Porcelain museum. Towards the end of the day at 3.30pm, all the Morris sides taking part will gather in Cathedral Square for a massed dance, at which members of the public will be invited to take part.

With as many as 18 Morris sides taking part, the city will be filled with music, colour and spectacle.

Further information can be obtained by emailingĀ oldmeg1@yahoo.co.uk

Based in Malvern, Old Meg Morris has been delighting audiences with energetic displays of Morris dancing for almost half a century, while SoXSighted, founded just five years ago is the only Morris side for visually impaired dancers in the country – and possibly the world!

The two sides are inviting other Morris dancers, both local and further afield, to take part in a day of dance displays in key locations around Worcester. There will be a number of different Morris dancing styles on show, together with an array of colourful costumes and talented live musicians.

The event is completely FREE!

For more details you can email Old Meg Morris via oldmeg1@yahoo.com or email SoXsighted via soxmorris@gmail.com. Both sides have Facebook pages which can be found by searching for Old Meg Morris or So Xsighted Morris.
